The Indian women’s kho kho team made history by clinching the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025. They triumphed over Nepal with a commanding score of 78-40 in the final, held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on January 19, 2025.
Led by captain Priyanka Ingle, the Indian team delivered exceptional performances throughout the tournament. In the final match, they took an early lead, ending Turn 1 with a score of 34-0. Nepal fought back to narrow the gap to 35-24 by the end of Turn 2. However, India extended their lead significantly in Turn 3, bringing the score to 73-24. Despite Nepal adding 16 points in the final turn, India sealed the victory with a final score of 78-40.
India’s women’s team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. They dominated the group stages with remarkable victories against South Korea, Iran, and Malaysia. In the knockout rounds, they defeated Bangladesh in the quarter-finals and South Africa in the semi-finals, ultimately claiming their historic win over Nepal in the final.
This victory not only establishes India as the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup champions but also serves as a major milestone for this indigenous sport on the global stage.
